Who can apply for MDW?
All Singapore citizens, Permanent Residents and expatriates (holding valid employment or work passes), having a valid reason to employ a Migrant Domestic Worker (MDW) at their residence, are eligible to apply but subject to MOM approval. For expatriate employers, they have to declare that their family members are living with them upon application.
What are the criteria to be eligible for a levy concession?
For employers who engage a maid to look after an elderly at least the age of 67, a person with disabilities, or a child under the age of 16, the subsidized levy is $60 per month. (Daily: $1.98)
*Please note levy concessions has a cap of 2 helpers per household.
Each levy for each helper is based on 1 eligible person in the household.
You can also waive your maid’s (MDW) levy if she:
- is on overseas leave for at least 7 consecutive days, capped at 60 calendar days per calendar year.
- is on hospitalisation leave issued by Singapore hospitals, capped at 60 calendar days per calendar year.
- is under police custody or is housed at the embassy.
- Passed away.
What is the average timeline in hiring a helper?
It typically takes between two to four weeks for the shortlisted candidate to arrive in Singapore if she has a valid passport, complete set of documents and the application is for a straightforward case (as opposed to for example, a sponsor case). Upon her arrival in Singapore, it takes another 3 days for her to pass her medical checkup and attend the mandatory Settling-In Programme before the handover to you.
What is included in our after-sales support?
Our after-sales support ensures that both employers and maids are satisfied. We provide ongoing guidance, conflict resolution, and any necessary re-matching to guarantee a successful long-term placement.
What is the obligations of the employer towards the maid?
According to MOM’s regulations, the employer must ensure the maid:
- has at least one rest day each month that cannot be compensated away.
- has one rest day per week for the other weeks in the month for which she may be paid salary in-lieu
- has adequate rest and is provided with adequate food and acceptable accommodation (consists adequate shelter, basic amenities, sufficient ventilation, safety, modesty, space and privacy)
- receives any medical care needed, including hospitalization and six-monthly medical examinations
- is paid her salary every month, no later than 7 days after the last day of the salary period (not to exceed 1 month)
- is repatriated home with a passage paid by the employer, after giving her reasonable notice and paying her any outstanding salary
